Br. Karl Swift is a Belizean-born Jesuit, currently residing at the Jesuit residence at SJC.  Br. Swift is well known throughout Belize, and especially loved at St. Martin's, where he was one of the founding Jesuits.

Br. Swift entered the Society of Jesus immediately after Hurricane Hattie in 1961, joking that it took a storm of that magnitude to blow him into the Jesuits!  After doing his initial formation in Honduras and St. Louis, Missouri (USA), Br. Swift taught at Lynam College, an agricultural school located in the Stann Creek district of Belize, followed by 34-years as a religion teacher at Excelsior High School in Belize City with young men and women, who had difficulties in more traditional school settings.

Br. Karl founded the "Five-a-Side" football league in Belize City, forever endearing himself to the nation's youth, and for many years organized bus trips to the hospitals in Merida, Mexico for Belizeans.

Br. Swift is a man of the people, who can still be seen walking around downtown Belize City, chatting up his many friends and former students.

In 2016, Br. Swift was named a "National Hero" for all the exemplary work he has done over the years to help his brother and sister Belizeans.
